Blender Day 29 : Blender29 duplication and well example
Alright, let's continue. Once we have one pole, we can use the duplication technique to create another one. So, select the pole and press Shift + D to duplicate it.
Let's place the duplicated pole here.
Since we already have one pole in place, we can simply duplicate and move it up a bit. But, since we already have the supporting poles in place, we can duplicate those instead to make things quicker.
Press Shift and hold it to select all the supporting poles. Then, go to the side view. Press Shift + D to duplicate them and move them up a little bit.
If I just move them up, they would be too big, so I'm going to scale them.
Yes, I think this size is enough.
Alright, the whole pole has been scaled up. But, I think it's too big for us. Let me just delete it and start again. It's quicker to build it from scratch.
In the side view, select one pole and press Shift + D to duplicate it.
Rotate it by 45 degrees.
After applying the changes, grab it and scale it.
Yes, this looks good. Grab it and rotate it by about 30 degrees.
Now, scale it to make it a little smaller.
Yes, I think this is good.
Press Shift + D to duplicate it.
I'm going to rotate it a bit and create a slight overlap. I won't be too precise with the rotation because I want it to feel more natural. The world isn't a perfectly precise place, after all.
Perfect! Now, you can move to the left side and double-click to select both poles.
If you press Numpad 1, you'll get a front view.
Press Shift + D to duplicate them and move them to the left side. Right-click to place them.
Now, we have two structures here. And of course, I think I'll just add one more here.
Yeah, because I'm going to add a bit of support here.
Let me finish the support and then we can duplicate it much faster.
Hold Shift and move it up a little bit.
I'm going to use this parallel structure.
Press Shift + D to duplicate it and place it approximately in this position.
Scale it down.
Grab it and place it here.
Approximately here.
Press Shift + D to duplicate it and rotate it.
Grab it and place it here.
I'm not going to be precise, I'm just building up the structure.
I think I might as well scale it along the X-axis to give it more of a wooden feeling.
So, press S, then X, and make it a bit thicker.
Alright, if you look here, we have an X-axis of 0.4. That's what we're aiming for. So, scale it along the X-axis to approximately 0.4.
I'm not going to be precise, just approximately like this.
Looks pretty good, right?
Now, we can duplicate it.
Actually, we can even omit this pole here. So, just delete it.
Press Shift to select every part of it.
Press Numpad 1.
Press Shift + D to duplicate it and place it here.
Yeah, this is a pretty quick way of doing it.
Looks pretty good!
