Blender Day 44 : Blender44 how to use vertex snapping to quickly model brick like model in blender

Alright, let's talk more about snapping. When snapping is turned on and you grab an object using the "G" key, you'll notice that it moves one square at a time in the specified direction. To make it clearer, I'll press "X" to constrain the movement along the X-axis. You'll see that it moves in increments of one square at a time.

If you look at the "Item" tab and specifically the X location, you'll see that when I grab and move along the X-axis, it incrementally adds or subtracts 0.1 meters at a time. This is the beauty of snapping.

Now, what if you don't want snapping? Let's say you want to move the object freely without any snapping increments. In that case, you can hold down the "Ctrl" key. As you can see, the numbers in the location become a bit messy when I press "Ctrl" because I'm moving continuously without snapping. However, when I release the "Ctrl" key, snapping is enabled again.

To snap an object to a specific position, move it close to that position while snapping is on, and then click to apply the transformation. Keep in mind that once you click, it applies the transformation even if you wanted to snap to a specific position. This means that if the original location was a bit messy, the snapped position may not be perfectly aligned due to the applied transformation.

So, when snapping is on and you move an object, it will incrementally add or subtract 0.1 meters based on the current snapping settings.
