Blender Day 18 : Blender18 spear example1

Right, let's give it a try, shall we? So, last time we talked about the need to apply these changes, or else something bad might happen, like getting a strange coordinate system. Okay, let's try it. The philosophy here is that I'd like you guys to play around in Blender. So, as you can see, we have Blender open. Let's make a diamond or a sphere. If you choose it, just click on it. Let me open the screen cast so you can see what's going on here. Okay, let me make that a little bigger. And the mouse cursor a bit larger too. That's good. Once you click on it, in object mode, yeah, you can just choose it and lift it a little bit. Press 'n' to open the properties panel. You can add the 'Z' axis location up, or you can input a specific number. For example, if you want to lift it by just one, you can do that. So it's just above the ground. If you want to change it to a diamond, you can make a slight rotation. If you click and move the mouse left and right, you can rotate the object. For example, if I enter 45 degrees, you get this. It's a pretty good shape. Now, here's the important part. If you don't apply these changes and you want to scale it along the 'X' axis, you'll notice that it scales in the wrong direction. That's not what we want. So, I'm using 'Ctrl + Z' to undo everything I've done. You're going to apply these changes. As I mentioned earlier, you need to apply this rotation to reset it back to zero, essentially making Blender think that the object is in its original position. This way, you can further play around with it. Yeah.
